This painting is the demo painitng I created for my lunar new year class I held on January 29 of this year.  This year is the year of the snake.  Which is all about transformation and shedding the old.    This class had the largest turnout since my days at Kalico.  We celebrated the lunar new year by creating an art project.  I guided my students through the process of how I channel spirit to create art.  Each student pulled a card from my snake oracle deck. We used our cards as inspiration for a paint pour.  Before the paint pour we also added affirmations, symbols, and whatever eles we felt guided to add to the blank canvas. This helps draw out the energy of the painting.  In every class my students always see the intended energy show up in the finished paint pour.  In my painting a snake appeared as well as a dragon (the previous lunar new year was the year of the dragon.)  In this particular class we only did the paint pour. However my classes are typically 4 weeks long.  I guide my students throught the enire process of my creation.  My finished painting Has all the stages.  After the pour I outlined the dragon and snake that appeared and added one of my symbols ( power within).  In the final stage I added stones (carnelian, dragon blood stone, and serpentine) and resin. I sold the orignal, but prints are available by ordering from this site. You can also order merch from my merch shop by visiting this link https://artforthesoul2021.threadless.com/

TRANSFORMATION

I EMBRACE THE CHANGE AND TRANSFORMATION THAT IS HAPPENING IN MY LIFE I LET GO OF OLD HABITS AND PATTERNS TO WELCOME NEW BEGINNINGS AND PERSONAL GROWTH I TRUST THE PROCESS OF RENEWAL AND EMBRACE THE NEW ME EMERGING   W are all in the middle of a great transformation as a collective and as individuals. A new consciousness is emerging. This painting is a visual representation of my own transformation spiritually and as an artist. It has certainly been an amazing journey. I moved through my own death and rebirth with a lot of humility, some grace and a great deal of resistance to change. I’m here now realizing it was worth all of it. This painting was my example piece in a class I taught for the lunar new year. We moved from the year of the dragon to the year of the snake. In the year of the dragon it was all about strength and resilience. The dragon symbolizes good fortune, power, wisdom, and prosperity. The year of the dragon is also about transformation. I personally connected to the dragon energy about four years ago. This energy has brought me a lot strength and helped me to relight my inner fire. I still connect to the dragon energy every morning during my meditation practice. In 2025 we moved into the year of the snake. The year of the snake is primarily about transformation and shedding the old, as well as the subsequent rebirth that takes place. An interesting thing happened with this painting. The dragon is merging with the snake. On the left is the dragon’s head and body. On the right snake appears as its tail.  I believe this is because we all need to remember our inner fire and strength as we move through this transformation. As we shed our old ways of being and living, our old ideas and beliefs the energy of the dragon can help us with this. In the bottom right corner I place my power within symbol as reminder of the power we all have within that comes from the integration of our light and our darkness. Like yin and yang it symbolizes the balance that is created when we heal and integrate our shadow. This also makes our light shine more brightly. I also placed stones in this piece. I chose dragon’s blood stone, serpentine and carnelian. I also coated this painting in resin for shine and protection of the stones. Thank you for supporting my art. Namaste, Art for the soul
